OUR STORY

Named After A Village In Northern Ireland, At The Foot Of Morialta

Rostrevor takes its name from the village of Rostrevor in County Down, Northern Ireland, and sits about 11 kilometres east-north-east of the Adelaide CBD, split between the City of Campbelltown across most of its streets and a smaller Adelaide Hills Council pocket that climbs toward Montacute Road. Before the suburb existed the land was semi-rural: the Walters family ran market gardens here from 1856, an Angora goat stud operated on the Fourth Creek Estate from 1891, and the ground later passed to grazier James Smith Reid until 1912. It wasn't until the post-war years, roughly 1950 to 1970, that most of Rostrevor was subdivided into the residential blocks that make up the suburb today, including streets like Werona Place, where a group of residents including architect Robert Dickson bought and resplit thirteen allotments into ten larger, irregular blocks rather than the standard grid cut elsewhere. The suburb runs south from Montacute Road to Arcoona Avenue, Stradbroke Road, Morialta Road, Glen Stuart Road and Moules Road, and west to St Bernard's Road, with its eastern edge running straight into the Adelaide Hills Council boundary and Morialta Conservation Park itself. Fourth Creek, which feeds the River Torrens and carved the gorge and waterfalls inside Morialta, crosses the suburb on its way down from the hills, and it's this creek line and the park boundary behind it that shape a lot of the gardening work we do here. BP Blitz Gardening and Landscaping Services works this stretch of the City of Campbelltown the same way it works neighbouring Athelstone and Newton, from regular garden maintenance on Rostrevor's established post-war blocks through to one-off garden clean-ups on properties backing onto the park that have gone a season without attention.

8,452 People, 3,330 Homes, And A Suburb Split By Elevation

The 2021 Census counted 8,452 residents across Rostrevor's 3,330 private dwellings, of which 3,091, 94.8 per cent, were occupied, a suburb that grew 9.2 per cent in the five years from 2016 as more families moved into its established post-war streets. The dwelling mix runs heavily to separate houses, 78.8 per cent, against 15.2 per cent semi-detached and terrace stock and 5.9 per cent flats, with an average household size of 2.7 people and a median age of 41, in line with the South Australian average. Of the suburb's families, 49.5 per cent are couples with children at home, 34.7 per cent are couples without, and 14.9 per cent are one-parent households, a family-heavy mix that shows up on site as regular, ongoing maintenance bookings rather than one-off jobs. Median weekly household income runs to $1,791, median monthly mortgage repayments to $1,950, and median weekly rent to $380, with 35.5 per cent of residents aged 15 and over holding a bachelor degree or higher. Rostrevor's western and southern streets adjoin Morialta Conservation Park, and the park's own management plan for Black Hill and Morialta puts average annual rainfall at around 640 millimetres on this side of the range, falling mainly from May to September, with every other month showing higher average evaporation than rainfall. The ground changes with elevation here too: shallow sandy soils sit on the upper slopes closest to the park boundary, prone to erosion once the topsoil is disturbed, while lower blocks toward Fourth Creek and St Bernard's Road carry a deeper, more loamy profile that holds moisture better through summer. On the sandier upper blocks we work gypsum through the top 100 to 150 millimetres of any new bed to open up compaction and improve drainage before planting, then finish with 75 millimetres of coarse mulch held clear of stems and foundations, while lower creek-line gardens on the loam get a lighter mulch layer since the ground already holds its own moisture. South Australia's state-wide tree rules apply in Rostrevor just as they do everywhere else we work: since 16 May 2024, any tree with a trunk circumference of one metre or more is a regulated tree and two metres or more is significant, both needing council approval before serious pruning or removal, a check we run before quoting any hedge and bush trimming job near a mature tree close to the park boundary.

Why choose us in Rostrevor

Why Rostrevor Chooses BP Blitz

BP Blitz Gardening and Landscaping Services has traded under that name since 2023, built on a local gardening business with more than 20 years of history behind it, and we've now looked after over 500 properties across Adelaide on that foundation. We trade under ABN 59 193 634 840 and carry $20 million in public liability cover, with a certificate of currency available on request, documentation that matters to Rostrevor's body corporates and the strata-titled blocks scattered through the suburb's newer streets. Every job gets a fixed, written price before anyone starts: a standard maintenance visit generally runs $60 to $120 depending on block size, and a full catch-up clean-up on a garden that's gone a season or two without attention typically runs $150 to $400, green waste included. We run the same crew on your property every visit rather than a rotating roster, which matters in a suburb where soil and rainfall change block by block depending on how close you sit to Morialta Conservation Park, because the crew already knows which streets need the gypsum-and-mulch treatment for sandy upper ground and which sit low enough on the creek line to hold moisture on their own. Rostrevor's post-war blocks, many of them cut larger and more irregular than a standard modern subdivision, also mean more established trees and deeper garden beds than a newer estate, so pruning judgement matters as much as equipment. Where a bed near the park boundary has gone hard through summer, we work compost and gypsum through the top layer before replanting rather than just topping up what's there, and we scope garden bed installation and mulch installation to the actual block rather than a flat per-suburb rate.

SERVICES WE OFFER IN Rostrevor

Newton, Athelstone, Campbelltown And The Rostrevor Streets We Cover

Rostrevor borders Campbelltown and Newton to the west and south-west, Athelstone directly to the south, and Magill further along the foothills, all suburbs BP Blitz already runs a regular round through, so a Rostrevor booking usually lines up with work we're doing nearby the same week. The suburb also runs up against Hectorville, Montacute and Woodforde, home to the original Rostrevor Estate grounds behind Rostrevor College, though our current round doesn't yet extend into those streets. Locally, our jobs cluster around Montacute Road near the council office at number 172, along St Bernard's Road on the suburb's western edge, and around Stradbroke Road, Morialta Road, Glen Stuart Road and Moules Road on the southern boundary shared with Athelstone. We also cover the streets nearest Morialta Secondary College, which opened in 2023, and Stradbroke School, along with the properties backing onto the nature playground inside Morialta Conservation Park, where overhanging growth and dry creek-line beds are a regular part of the job. City of Campbelltown runs kerbside collection across Rostrevor through East Waste on a Tuesday cycle: general waste weekly, recycling and green organics alternating fortnightly, which a proper hedge trim or park-boundary clean-up fills fast, so we load the bulk of it onto our own trailer rather than leaving it for the next collection. On a catastrophic fire danger day East Waste suspends collection in parts of Rostrevor and neighbouring Athelstone, so we reschedule any green waste run booked for that day rather than leaving a loaded trailer sitting on a frontage. If you're not sure whether your street falls inside Rostrevor or one of its neighbours, call Mitesh on 0406 147 913 and we'll confirm coverage before quoting.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know about our Gardening and Landscaping In Rostrevor

How much does garden maintenance cost in Rostrevor?

Cost depends mostly on block size, since Rostrevor runs heavily to separate houses, 78.8 per cent of its 3,330 dwellings, with a smaller share of semi-detached and terrace properties on its newer streets. A standard maintenance visit generally runs $60 to $120, with a full catch-up clean-up on a garden that's gone a season without attention typically $150 to $400, green waste included. We always confirm a fixed price on site before starting, so there's no guessing based on the suburb alone. Call Mitesh on 0406 147 913 with your street and block size for an accurate figure.

Are you licensed and insured to work in Rostrevor?

Yes. BP Blitz Gardening and Landscaping Services carries $20,000,000 in public liability insurance under ABN 59 193 634 840, and has more than 20 years of combined local experience gardening across Adelaide's eastern and foothill suburbs. A certificate of currency is available on request, which we're regularly asked for by Rostrevor's strata-titled properties and body corporates. Every crew member follows the same insured, fixed-price process on every job. Call Mitesh on 0406 147 913 if you'd like the certificate sent through before booking.

My garden backs onto Morialta Conservation Park. Does that change how you work?

Yes. Properties along Rostrevor's western and southern boundary sit closest to the park, where the Black Hill and Morialta management plan records average annual rainfall around 640 millimetres, mostly falling May to September, and shallow sandy soils on the upper slopes that dry out fast once the weather turns. We lean on coarser mulch and a shorter watering cycle on these blocks, and we keep any pruning near the boundary compliant with the state's tree rules for trunks over a metre in circumference. Lower blocks toward Fourth Creek hold moisture better and need a different approach again. Call Mitesh on 0406 147 913 and we'll assess your specific garden before quoting.

What happens on a first visit to a Rostrevor property?

We walk the garden with you first, talk through what needs doing now versus what can wait, and give you a fixed price before touching anything. On properties near the park boundary we check for overgrowth and dry beds that need a different watering approach, while lower blocks toward St Bernard's Road usually just need a straightforward mow, edge and trim. Most first visits are completed the same day once you approve the price.

Do you handle regular ongoing maintenance, not just one-off jobs, in Rostrevor?

Yes, and it's most of what we do here. Just under half of Rostrevor's families, 49.5 per cent, are couples raising children at home, and that family-heavy mix tends to book us on a regular fortnightly or monthly cycle rather than a single clean-up. We run the same crew on your property every visit, so they already know your garden and don't need re-briefing each time. Call Mitesh on 0406 147 913 to set up a regular schedule.

Do you cover the streets near Athelstone, Newton and Campbelltown as well?

Yes, we work right up to Rostrevor's boundaries and regularly service neighbouring Athelstone, Newton, Campbelltown and Magill on the same days. If your property sits right on one of these boundary streets, such as Stradbroke Road or Morialta Road, we'll still cover it as part of our regular Rostrevor round. It's easier for us to schedule multiple nearby jobs on the same visit, which helps keep pricing consistent. Call Mitesh on 0406 147 913 to confirm coverage for your exact street.
